End of the World

 Let me start by saying this is my frist blog....EVER! Believe it or not in our super contected world of myspace, facebook, and twitter I have up to this point kept my thoughts and feelings in my own head or simply shared them with co-workers. With the all that is going on in this great country we call home, I feel I can no longer stay quiet.

Let me start with the basics. My name is Shawn, I am 26 years old and have a job working for a major retail home improvement chain. I am a calm person in the face of almost anything that comes my way. I don't consider myself a Republician or a Demorcat, but a Conservative. A man named R.J. White wrote: "To put conservatism in a bottle with a label is like trying to liquify the atmosphere.....the difficulty arises from the nature of the thing. For conservatism is less a poltitical doctrine than a habit of mind, a mode of feeling, a way of living"

It comes from the Latin word conservare, which means to "save" or "preserve". Is that not what we are all about? From the founding fathers that penned the very document that defines out great nation to the way we conservatives feel about America today. We strive to save all that makes this nation great. And now we are just meant to stand by and watch it destroyed brick by brick by people whos ideas do not match our own? Do not match what the people want? When did this stop being a nation for the people and by the people? When will we stand up and fight for what we know in our hearts is right?! 

I love this country and all that is used to stand for, all that made it great. It can be great again, and I want to be a part of it. This is my first blog....but will not be my last! I want to end with a song. I love music and it helps me through the best and worst times in my life. There is a new band out called Dead by Sunrise. I just picked up there first cd and have it in the car right now. I ran across a song and just have to share it with all of you! Its called End of the World. Enjoy!
